Our organization
The Swedish African Business Cluster Initiative (SABCI) has been founded by the Swedish East African Chamber of Commerce (SWEACC), this is a service that SWEACC provides to companies and organization that want to join our platform for private companies interested to establish and grow in Africa. Our strategy is now that other Chambers, Organization or Resources join us for a real joint venture build a strong business platform for Africa.
SWEACC is a non-profit organization that was founded in November 2010 as the first Swedish chamber of commerce to focus on business opportunities in Africa. The prime objectives are to provide a meeting place for business people with an interest in the EAC and to organize seminars which provide insight into the economy and private sector of the EAC. The Chamber also offers a platform for the Embassies and visiting dignitaries, where they can meet informally the Swedish and diaspora business communities. SWEACC is managed by a board of directors and current Chairman is Mr Jan Furuvald.
Head of Cluster Development at SWEACC is Mr Joachim Davidsson, also a board member. Head of Cluster works more like a coordinator as each cluster will be managed by people with a special interest and experience in that field or sector. Today we have 4 clusters focusing on Swedish business in Africa;
Green City Cluster that focuses on sustainable business in Africa, this cluster is managed by Mr Tom Walsh from Renetech and Jakob Fries from Sweco.
Healthcare Cluster focuses on healthcare, medtech and other life science opportunities in Africa. That cluster is managed by Anders Wikman, retired healthcare executive and Fredrik Agerhem, XLIT.
Investment Cluster is managed by Mr Carl Schwieler, partner and lawyer at DLA Piper with special focus on M&A.
Impact Cluster is managed by Ms Dana Simovic, also head of the NGO Developing a new Africa in Uganda.
We are working on some new clusters that we hope to launch during this year and they are Agribusiness Cluster, ICT Cluster Southern Sweden to Africa Cluster and Tourism in Africa Cluster.
